Altabay launches its 5-week internship program that aims to develop the analytical and communication skills for incoming graduating BS Statistics students who wish to experience the field of academic research consulting.
The internship program will integrate lectures and practical activities that will expose the interns to real-life research consulting situations. Then, a data analysis project at the end of the program will challenge their skills and capabilities in handling data analysis services for clients.
Running from Mondays to Fridays, 9 AM to 6 PM, the first four days of the week will be dedicated to lectures and the final day will be used for practical activities and presentations. A data analysis project will be given to the interns in the final week of the program.
Five interns will be accepted for the program that will run from July 31 to September 1, 2023. And as for the benefits, each intern will be given an allowance of Php 1,000 every week during the course of the internship.
Below are the topics that will be covered within the period:
Preparing data through Microsoft Excel Basic formulas, column naming system, computing new variables, pivot tables, data analysis tools
Data Processing Using R Software Basic functions, data cleaning principles, recoding data, computing new variables, creating functions
Statistical Analysis in R Basic parametric statistical inference, non-parametric statistical inference, regression modelling
Principles of Statistical Consulting Client-facing skills, evaluating research objectives, recommending sound methodologies
Practical Statistical Consulting Use Case Application of Statistical Consulting Principles in actual cases, proper project management.
*Activities will be done either synchronous or asynchronous.
To be qualified, the applicant must:
Be an incoming 4th year (or graduating) BS Statistics student
Have a working desktop/laptop with a reliable internet connection
Be proficient with Office applications
Have basic knowledge regarding R programming
